The Office of the President has today announced the appointment of Ms Sarah Lloyd as Governor of the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS).
Ms Lloyd is an experienced banking and financial sector professional with extensive expertise in economics, financial stability, banking regulation, risk management and governance. She has extensive experience in the Seychelles banking system from both regulatory and commercial perspectives and has also held senior executive roles in the banking sector.
She is currently the Chief Risk Officer of Absa Bank Zambia PLC, a position she has held since March 2022. In this role, she has oversight of the bank’s risk landscape, including credit, treasury, fraud, strategic, business, country, sustainability and operational risks, and reports to the Bank’s Board and Group governance committees.
Prior to taking up her current role, Ms Lloyd served as Chief Risk Officer of Absa Bank (Seychelles) Limited from February 2019 to March 2022, where she was responsible for oversight of the Bank’s risk landscape and contributed to strengthening its risk management and governance frameworks.
Ms Lloyd is also well acquainted with the Central Bank of Seychelles, where she began her professional career in early 2007 as a Research Assistant in the Research and Statistics Department. She subsequently progressed to the position of Economist, undertaking economic analysis and forecasting, research, econometric modelling and contributing to policy proposals. She also served as Communications Coordinator of the Central Bank.
She later served as Senior Financial Stability Analyst, during which time she established and managed the Financial Stability Unit. Her responsibilities included financial stability assessment, payment systems oversight and reporting to the Financial Stability Committee. She also represented Seychelles at regional and international forums relating to banking supervision, financial stability and economic research.
Ms Lloyd holds a Master of Science in Financial Economics from City University London and a Bachelor of Science in Banking and International Finance from Cass Business School. She has also undertaken further professional development in areas including advanced management, sustainable finance, ESG stress testing and fintech.
Ms Sarah Lloyd has been appointed for a six-year term, effective 1st November 2026.
