Jeniffer Carol Vel is the Chief of Staff for Presidential Affairs and Economic Advisor to the President.
She holds a Master of Science in Finance from the University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies SOAS)and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Business Studies and Economics from the University of Manchester. She is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) and the International Compliance Association (ICA), and has undertaken professional training in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, securities and investment, global financial compliance, and public financial management, including programmes delivered through the International Monetary Fund.
Jeniffer has extensive experience in economic policy, public financial management, and regulatory oversight. She previously served as Director of Corporate Planning and Research at the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC), where she led strategic planning, revenue forecasting and analysis, performance monitoring, and enterprise risk management, supporting evidence-based fiscal decision-making. Earlier in her career, she served as Director General for Economic Planning at the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade, contributing to national development planning and the coordination of bilateral and multilateral development programmes.
She also served for ten years as the elected Member of the National Assembly for Pointe Larue District, during which time she served on the Finance and Public Accounts Committee and as Vice-Chair of the International Affairs Committee.
Following her tenure at the Seychelles Revenue Commission, she transitioned to the private sector, where she established her own consultancy and served as an approved Outsourced Compliance Officer, providing regulatory compliance and AML/CFT advisory services to entities regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
She has served on several national boards, including the Environment Trust Fund, the Agency for Social Protection, and the National Bureau of Statistics.
She was appointed Chief of Staff for Presidential Affairs and Economic Advisor to the President on December 1st 2025.
