After visiting the information office, President Dr Patrick Herminie walked across to the Seychelles Port Authority (SPA) office at the La Passe jetty, where he was welcomed by the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
The President toured the office, interacted with management, and had discussions on La Digue port operations, infrastructure and services supporting the movement of passengers and goods between islands.
Among the issues raised were infrastructure constraints, operational challenges linked to increasing activity at the port and the importance of maintaining reliable maritime connectivity for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Officials also briefed the President on the day-to-day responsibilities of the Authority, ongoing operational demands and areas requiring further attention to improve efficiency, safety, and service delivery.
President Herminie acknowledged the strategic importance of the port to La Digue’s economy and daily life, noting that efficient port services remain essential to the island’s development and accessibility.
He also commended staff members for their continued commitment and took note of the matters raised for further consideration.
