His Excellency (H.E) Ambassador Wolfgang Hermann Dodd, Special Envoy of the Federal Republic of Germany, paid a courtesy call on the Vice President of Seychelles, Mr Sebastien Pillay yesterday.
The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the longstanding and cordial relations between Seychelles and Germany, as the two countries mark 49 years of diplomatic ties this year.
Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas such as maritime security, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
Vice-President Sebastien Pillay welcomed Germany’s continued engagement with Seychelles and its support through multilateral platforms, especially in advancing issues of importance to Small Island Developing States (SIDS), including climate finance and resilience-building.
Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international matters, including maritime security cooperation in the Western Indian Ocean and Germany’s ongoing collaboration through international frameworks.
The visit formed part of Germany’s diplomatic outreach ahead of the upcoming UNSC elections, allowing for constructive dialogue on shared priorities and future cooperation.
