President Wavel Ramkalawan today received representatives from Gideons International’s Mahé camp at State House, reaffirming his support for their mission of spreading faith and hope through Bible distribution.
Led by Mr. Javan Sharif, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the President, who expressed deep appreciation for the organization’s longstanding missionary work. Gideons International, globally recognized for its extensive Bible distribution efforts, has been actively engaged across various community sectors in Seychelles.
During the courtesy call, the delegation shared compelling testimonies of their outreach initiatives. President Ramkalawan underscored the importance of fostering optimism within society, stating, “We need positivity to reign amongst our people,” and praised the Gideons for their role in offering spiritual guidance to those in need.
A key moment of the meeting was the presentation of a commemorative golden Bible to the President, marking Gideons International’s extraordinary milestone of distributing over two billion Bibles worldwide since its founding in 1908.
Mr. Gerald Perreau, President of the Seychelles Camp, highlighted the organization’s significant local impact, having distributed approximately 50,000 Bibles across the islands. These distributions have reached essential community institutions, including schools, hospitals, prisons, and businesses.
The delegation included Mrs. Nadia Perreau, Mr. Katis Hoareau, Ms. Kathleen Elisa, Mrs. Sinila Derjacque, and Mr. Simon Gamatis.
