The President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan has sent a message of condolence following the passing of Former Speaker of the National Assembly, Former Minister and High Commissioner Mr Patrick Pillay.

« On behalf of the country and on my personal behalf, I wish to convey my sincerest condolence and express profound sympathy to the Family and Friends of Mr Pillay. We mourn with you for the loss of a man who has made immense contributions to the development of his homeland.

Mr Pillay's contribution over many decades to furthering ideals of democracy and patriotism for the better of Seychelles, transpired in the various roles and positions he held in Government and Parliament.

As a true son of Seychelles, Mr Pillay's legacy lives on through his achievements and his devotion to the country.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. »
