New Japanese Ambassador to Seychelles Accredited

President Wavel Ramkalawan officially welcomed H.E. Sakuta Makoto as the new Japanese Ambassador to Seychelles during a credential presentation ceremony held at State House earlier today.

In his remarks, President Ramkalawan extended his congratulations to Ambassador Makoto on his appointment, emphasizing the deep-rooted friendship and robust cooperation between Seychelles and Japan. The President acknowledged Japan’s pivotal contributions to Seychelles’ development over the years.

Ambassador Makoto expressed his gratitude and honour in assuming the role, pledging to deepen the partnership between the two nations.

Discussions between the President and the Ambassador centered on enhancing collaboration in key areas, including maritime security, fisheries, environmental conservation, and climate change. Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to fostering stronger bilateral ties for mutual prosperity.

Ambassador Makoto marks a milestone as the first Japanese ambassador to be stationed locally in Seychelles.

Present at the ceremony were Ambassador Selby Pillay, Director for Bilateral Affairs; Lindy Ernest, Third Secretary; and Mr. Jonathan Pool.
