President Ramkalawan receives Honorary Consul to the Republic of Seychelles in Mauritius

 

The President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan welcomed the new Honorary Consul to the Republic of Seychelles in Mauritius, Mr Ahmed Parkar for a courtesy call at State House this morning.
 
President Ramkalawan formally welcomed Mr Parkar to Seychelles and on behalf of the government congratulated him on being appointed as the new Honorary Consul to the Republic of Seychelles in Mauritius last year. “Welcome back to Seychelles. Our island nations enjoys deep-rooted and longstanding relations, I have no doubt in your capacity as Honorary Consul you will continue to strengthen the positive collaboration for the benefit of our countries” said President Ramkalawan.
 
The meeting with the Head of State was an opportunity to discuss current affairs, the status of relations between Seychelles and Mauritius and the way forward by Mr Parkar during his tenure.
 
During discussions, Mr Parkar updated the President on actions taken during his first few months and potential areas of bilateral cooperation that could be further developed between Mauritius and Seychelles. He also elaborated on areas that could bring immediate benefit to Seychelles in areas such as renewable energy, fisheries, as well as the tourism sector.
 
Following the fruitful discussions, the President wished Mr Parkar the very best in his tasks ahead whilst on his part Mr Parkar expressed his sincere commitment to further build on the strong entente between Mauritius and Seychelles both on the commercial level as well as through the existing cultural links.
 
Mr Parkar was accompanied on his visit to State House by his Father, Mr Ali Parkar.
