President Ramkalawan meets Unisey’s first class honours graduate 2020

The President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan welcomed five of the six students from the 2020 cohort with University of Seychelles who were awarded first class honours and excelled in their respective fields of study this year, for a courtesy call at State House yesterday morning.

The President welcomed them to State House and congratulated the students for their outstanding performance. He noted his hope that their accomplishment inspires other students to excel in their studies and underlined that country needs more Seychellois professionals in different sectors. President Ramkalawan wished them success for future studies.

The meeting was opportunity for them to share with the President their experiences as students, their career and constraints, one of which was access to a library for students following online courses. The Head of State gave his commitment for the re-opening of the Seychelles National library after renovation.

The first class honours recipients present included Marty Fanny – Bsc in Computer Information Systems, Harini Naidu – Bsc in Environmental Science, Veronica Soupramanien – Bsc in Banking and Finance, Ms Anikah Moustache – Bsc in Business Administration and Ms Annabelle Lucas – Bsc in Environmental Science.

Samuel Cecile who has also excelled with Distinction in Diploma in Computing and Information Technology (Specialising in networking, infrastructure and Security) was absent in view that he have already left for his Master’s degree in Bahrain.

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Mr Fanny who is currently working at the Central bank of Seychelles and pursuing another degree in Bsc in Bachelor of Legislative Law said that meeting with the President was an ideal opportunity as they were able to put forward their difficulties as students.
