New Thai Ambassador for Seychelles accredited

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Ms. Sasirit Tangulrat presented her credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan during an accreditation ceremony at State House this morning.

President Ramkalawan firstly welcomed Ambassador Tangulrat to Seychelles and congratulated her on being accredited to Seychelles. He also wished her success during her tenure as she takes on the new role. The President expressed hope that through her accreditation today, Seychelles and Thailand will further enhance their already strong bilateral relations. The talks between the Head of State and the newly accredited Ambassador centred on opportunities to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as tourism, public health, education, fisheries and investment.

On her part, Ambassador Tangulrat reciprocated the need to move the diplomatic ties between Thailand and Seychelles to new heights and highlighted that she will do her utmost in deepening the bilateral relations in areas that are beneficial to both countries.

During her visit to State House, Ambassador Tangulrat also held discussions with the Vice-President, Mr Ahmed Afif.

Seychelles established diplomatic relations with Thailand on 19th July 1988. Ambassador Tangulrat will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

She was accompanied by the Honorary Consul-designate of the Kingdom of Thailand in Seychelles, Ms. Alexandra Benoiton and Second Secretary in the office of the Ambassador, Mr Navarit Ongkamongkol.

Also present this morning was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde, the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Vivienne Fock-Tave, and Director General Bilateral Affairs Division, Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms Lindy Ernesta.
