President Ramkalawan welcomes Seychelles Olympic Games Delegation at State House

President Ramkalawan received the Seychelles delegation at State House yesterday morning, prior to their departure to participate in the upcoming Olympic Games which will be held in Tokyo, Japan. 

Seychelles will be represented at the Games by Rodney Govinden in sailing, Felicity Passon and Simon Bachman in swimming, Ned Azemia in athletics and Naintaina Finesse in judo.

The President congratulated the athletes for their outstanding achievements thus far and wished them courage on the journey ahead. He shared words of encouragement and urged them to remain focused as they prepare to represent Seychelles in one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

“Congratulations to you all, Seychelles is already extremely proud of all of you and on behalf of the country I wish you all the very best for the games. Remain focused and no matter the outcome rest assured we are all supporting you. Continue being ambassadors of our islands and an inspiration for our younger generations” said the President.

During the courtesy call the athletes shared with the Head of State some of their preparations for the games, following which the President officially handed over two Seychelles Flags to the Flag bearers, Felicity and Rodney.

Also present was the Minister for Youth, Sports and Family, Mrs Marie-Celine Zialor, the Chairperson for the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA), Mr. Antonio Gopal, the Secretary General of Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA), Mr. Alain Alcindor, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council and the Chef de Mission, Mrs Mary Banane.
