President Ramkalawan Presents New Ambassadors with Instrument of Appointment

Following the recent approval of the appointment of two new Ambassadors by the National Assembly, the President of the Republic, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan welcomed Ambassador Anne Lafortune and Ambassador Ian Madeleine at State House this morning.

President Ramkalawan presented the Ambassadors with their Instrument of Appointment as Ambassador and congratulated them on their appointments. In wishing them well on their new tasks ahead, The President also urged them to ensure the interest of the country and citizens remain at the centre of all actions and decisions.

Subject to receipt of Agrément from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, Ambassador Anne Lafortune will be posted to the Seychelles embassy in Beijing. Subject to Agrément, she will be accredited to other countries falling under the jurisdiction of this embassy.

Ambassador Ian Madeleine will be posted to the Permanent Mission of Seychelles to the United Nations in New York. Subject to Agrément, he will be concurrently accredited to the United States of America and other countries falling under the jurisdiction of the Permanent Mission.

Also present at State House, was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde and the Secretary of State for Cabinet Affairs, Mr Mohammed Afif.
