On the occasion of Seychelles’ Constitution Day, the President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan and the First Lady, Mrs Linda Ramkalawan attended the annual ceremony at the ‘Lavwa Lanasyon’ (the Voice of the Nation) monument in Peace Park, Victoria.
The ceremony was attended by numerous high government officials and other distinguished guests. It paid tribute to the Constitution, the supreme law of the land, as well as the national flag and the national anthem. This year, marks the 28th anniversary of the Third Republic and 7 years since this historic day is being celebrated officially.
To note, it was 25 years ago, 3 years after the birth of the Third Republic, that the 5 coloured national Flag was unfurled, and on that same day, the ‘Koste Seselwa’ the Armorial Bearings, and the President’s standard were introduced to the People of Seychelles for the first time as its 4 National Symbols.
The event which was organised by the National Celebrations Committee chaired by the Mayor of Victoria, Mr David Andre, was highlighted by the national anthem composed by Mr. David Andre and Mr. George Payet, reading of Preamble of the Constitution of Seychelles and also featured a song called ‘Ini pour Sesel’ by Yhoni Farabeau, Veronique Belle and Emma Marie.
This symbolic ceremony was also attended by Vice-President, Mr. Ahmed Afif and his wife Mrs Stella Afif, the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Roger Mancienne, the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Anthony Fernando, Ministers, the Chief of Defence Forces, Colonel Michael Rosette, the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly, Hon. Bernard Georges, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Gervais Henrie, the Diplomatic Corps and other distinguished guests.
