President Danny Faure has signed two Commencement Notices for the commencement of the Elections (Amendment) Act, 2020 and the Political Parties (Registration and Regulations) (Amendment) Act, 2020.

Following the Presidential assent which was given to the two legislations on August 17th, 2020, the Department of Legal Affairs prepared the Commencement Notice pursuant to section 1 of both legislations which specifies that the Acts shall come into operation by notice in the Gazette appointed by the President.

The Election (Amendment) Act, 2020 and the Political Parties (Registration and Regulations) (Amendment) Act, 2020, have therefore come into operation.
