President Danny Faure met with Honourable Mia Amor Mottley, QC, Prime Minister of Barbados, on 10th December 2019, in the margins of the 9th Summit of ACP Heads of State and Government; and reviewed the outcome of the deliberations during the ACP Summit.
The leaders discussed cooperation in the Blue Economy, Ocean Governance, Climate Change and SIDS. They agreed on concrete ways of working together, of exchanging experiences and information.
They exchanged examples of how they are affected by sea level rise, ocean acidification, coastal erosion, ground water salination and contamination.
The leaders discussed strategies to achieve common positions on these subjects. They discussed opportunities to bring the fight for a vulnerability and resilience index for SIDS to a finality.
Seychelles President offered to share the experience of Seychelles on macroeconomic reforms given the current challenges that Barbados is experieincing.
Both countries agreed to strengthen their collaboration and work towards greater alliances within the ACP and the Commonwealth.
