New Appointments and Transfers in Government

President Danny Faure has today announced a number of changes in the Executive, some of which will take effect from 1st February 2019, and some on 1st March  2019.

The President has announced the appointment of Mrs Laurie-Mae Lepathy-Ansah in the new post of Communications Advisor in the Office of the President.  She will work closely with the President, Members of the Cabinet, Special Advisors, Principal Secretaries and Chief Executives in helping to coordinate communications across the Government, with the aim of keeping the public well informed on Government policy and strategy in relation to the work of the Executive.

Mrs Lepathy-Ansah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Reading, UK, and has twelve years’ experience as a Communications and Marketing executive to a wide range of leading businesses in the UK.  Her appointment takes effect on 1st February 2019.

The President has appointed Mr Paul Labaleine as the Principal Secretary for Risk & Disaster Management in the Office of the Designated Minister. Mr Labaleine has a Master’s Degree in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management, from the University of Leicester, UK, and has previously served as District Administrator for Grand’Anse Mahe between 1994 and 2007, when he moved into the field of Risk & Disaster Management, where he has held the post of Director-General since 2010.  Mr Labaleine’s appointment takes effect on 1st February 2019.

Mrs Beryl Naiken, who is presently the CEO in the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Agency, will be taking up the post of Advisor in the Ministry of Family Affairs with effect from 1st February 2019.

The President has also announced the appointment, with effect from 1st March 2019, of Mrs Fanette Albert as the new Principal Secretary for Lands.  Mrs Albert holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management from the University of Westminster, UK, and has worked for over fourteen years in the Town & Country Planning Authority, where she has most recently served as the Deputy CEO.

Mr Ravi Valmont, who is the current Principal Secretary for Lands, will remain as Technical Advisor in the same Department
