The new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mrs Anna Jardfelt, presented her credentials to President Danny Faure at State House this morning.
President Faure congratulated Ambassador Jardfelt on her appointment and expressed appreciation for the long-standing friendship that has existed between Sweden and Seychelles for over three decades. He thanked the Government of Sweden for all the support given to Seychelles over the last few years, particularly as a key partner in the fight against piracy, which he said has proven very successful.
The President discussed some of the key areas where Seychelles is keen to develop further cooperation with Sweden both locally and at the international arena, including climate change, the blue economy, environment, and waste management.
The Republic of Seychelles and the Kingdom of Sweden Established diplomatic relations on 14 August 1979. Ambassador Jardfelt will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Also present at the accreditation ceremony was the Director General for International Relations, Mrs Lindy Ernesta, and Third Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms Sofie Bonnelame.
