The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, met with the Regional Director of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Office for Africa (AFRO), Dr Matshidiso Moet, in the presence of Seychelles Minister for Health Mr Jean-Paul Adam at State House this morning.
Dr Matshidiso Moet is in Seychelles to attend the Sixth Meeting of African Ministers of Health of Small Island Developing States which will officially open this evening at the Savoy Resort.
During the meeting, the President and Dr Moet discussed progress Seychelles has made in terms of improving the health of the Seychellois population and achieving the set health objectives in relation to Medium Term Development Goals.
High points of the discussions between President Faure and Dr Moet also included the importance of prevention and greater emphasis on preventative interventions, such as raising awareness on the adoption of healthier lifestyles that would in turn reduce the prevalence of certain chronic diseases.
