President Danny Faure met with the members of Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Tuesday at State House.
Present for the meeting from SCCI was the Chairman, Mr. Wilson Nancy, the Vice Chairman, Mr. Dolor Ernesta, the Secretary General, Mrs. Juliette Sicobo and Councillors; Ms. Marie Cecile Esparon, Mr. Oliver Bastienne, Mr. Gonzaque Doffay, Mr. Andrew Padayachy, Mr. France Bonte, Mr Pierre Quatre, Mr John Stravens, Mr Rod Thorrington and Mr Herbert Hoareau.
During his discussions with the members present, President Faure highlighted the importance of the meeting with SCCI very early during his presidency as an opportunity for him to outline the new work approach and the role that SCCI has to play in this process.
President Faure urged the members to maintain open lines of communication and to draw on-board all other relevant business community partners so that SCCI becomes the main body through which pertinent matters, issues and suggestions pertaining to the business arena can be discussed and addressed in consultation with government.
During the meeting, the president also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working in close partnership with all relevant business stakeholders through SCCI, in order for decisions to be taken collectively hence result in a business landscape more favourable for everyone. “Together, we need to create a business environment in which businesses in Seychelles can flourish” added President Faure.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, the Chairman of SCCI Mr. Wilson Nancy welcomed the President’s new approach and said SCCI is looking forward to working closer with government and contribute to providing an environment where people are happy to conduct business.
Also present for the meeting was the Secretary of State Cabinet Affairs Mr. Mohammed Afif, Diplomatic Advisor to the President Ambassador Callixte D’offay, Economic Advisor to the President Mr. Bertrand Belle and the Chief of Presidential Protocol Mrs. Jacqueline Moustache-Belle.
