President Michel meets with representatives of the Seychelles Scouts Association

President James Michel, who is also the patron of the Seychelles Scouts Association, met with the Chief Commissioner of the association, Mr. Holbert Jean, and other scout leaders at State House this morning.

The President commended the Seychelles Scouts Association for their educational programmes which give young people essential life skills, develop leadership as well as good living values. He also said that the association was working well to keep young people away from negative influences in society.

Mr. Jean presented the President with the strategic plan of the association and thanked the President for his support. Mr. Jean spoke about their challenges and constraints as well as their plans for the future, including a project for the construction of a headquarters for the Scouts Association, for which they are seeking donors in the private sector.

The representatives of the Seychelles Scouts Association briefed the President on their efforts to modernize the organization, attract new volunteers, raise funds as well as engage with the Seychelles National Youth Council for coordination of training as well as other national events being organized.

The Seychelles Scouts Association is one of the oldest youth organisations in the country, having been founded in Seychelles in 1927.
