The outgoing Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Dr. Michal Mlynar, paid a farewell call on President James Michel today at State House, at the end of his three and half-year tenure.

President James Michel thanked Ambassador Mlynar for all the excellent cooperation he has promoted between Slovakia and Seychelles.

During the meeting President Michel and Ambassador Mlynar discussed several areas of ongoing cooperation including education, health, tourism, commerce, capacity-building, environment, climate change, water supply and purification and defence.

Speaking to the local press after the meeting, Ambassador Mlynar said that Seychelles and Slovakia have particularly good cooperation in the field of medical education, noting that there are currently 7 medical students studying at universities in the country.

He said that there exists great potential for further economic cooperation, as well as the fields of hydropower development, waste water management, ICT and tourism.

“We are planning to have a business team come to Seychelles together with our Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, who will be coming in the first half of 2016, with a business delegation to focus on these particular economic areas....I think there are really tangible areas, and there is some tangible progress that has already been made. We hope that further good progress will be made especially in education, health and economic cooperation, for the benefit of the peoples of our both smaller countries,” explained Ambassador Mlynar.

Ambassador Mlynar presented his credentials on 3rd April 2012 and was based in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
