President James Michel has hailed the formation of ‘a modern, caring, prosperous and forward-looking nation’ of the United Arab Emirates as they celebrate the 43rd anniversary of their founding.

In congratulatory messages to the Government and people of the UAE that were sent to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, President Michel commended the ground-breaking achievements of the UAE in their pursuit of development rooted in rich traditions and history.


“The world has witnessed your resounding achievements which have propelled the United Arab Emirates into a steady path of development, based on the late Sheikh Zayed’s vision, on your inspiring leadership and on your deep-rooted traditions and heritage. Your pioneering achievements have gained you the respect and admiration of the international community of nations. They are also a tribute to your dynamic leadership and the unity of the people of the United Arab Emirates,” said the President.

President Michel also took this opportunity to express the gratitude and thanks of the Government and people of Seychelles to the UAE for their “unwavering support and friendship, which have made a significant contribution to our development efforts and security requirements”.

“On this most auspicious of occasions, I wish to express the gratitude of the Government and people of Seychelles to Your Highness, to the Government and people of the United Arab Emirates for the continuing programme of bilateral cooperation and pledge you my full support in the further strengthening of our relations,” the President added.

President Michel concluded by wishing the people of the UAE continued progress, prosperity and peace, under the wise and able leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
