Mrs Marie-France Roussety is the first ambassador of the Republic of Mauritius to Seychelles, following the presentation of her credentials to President James A Michel at State House yesterday.
Mrs Roussety told the media after the ceremony that her accreditation came after the visit in Seychelles in June of Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, and President Michel’s visit to Mauritius in May.
“Our relations with Seychelles are getting much closer, much bigger and more intense,” said Mrs Roussety.
Areas of cooperation between the two countries include the joint management of the continental shelf between Seychelles and Mauritius, and the development of the blue economy.
Mrs Roussety added that tourism and education are other areas in which the two countries can work together.
Mauritius and Seychelles have signed a lot of protocol agreements, among them cultural exchange, police and judiciary.
