The Electoral Commission has presented a proposal for a new Public Order Act to President James Michel at State House this morning.

The Government will consider the proposal and follow the necessary procedures under the provisions of the Constitution.

The Public Order Act forms part of the Commission’s Electoral Review program which aims to strengthen and consolidate democracy in Seychelles.

The Electoral Commission was created in July 2011, and the Commission members were sworn into office in August 2011.
