July 27, 2012 -- President James Michel has conveyed his best wishes, on behalf of the Seychellois government and people, to Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Mr. David Cameron, ahead of the start of the Olympic Games in London this evening.
“The UK has worked very hard to bring the world together on this fantastic occasion. We have every confidence that this event will further highlight Britain’s leadership in the international community, as well as the unifying spirit of sport,” the President remarked.
“The Olympics represents the ideal we all share of a world in harmony. It is fitting that London will be at the centre of this manifestation of global harmony over the next two weeks,” said President Michel.
The President added that “despite Seychelles being one of the smallest delegations in London, every Seychellois knows that our young men and women have a lot to offer the world, and we are proud to be part of the London experience. We wish all athletes, Seychellois and all other competitors, well.”
Last week President Michel personally conveyed his wishes of success to the Seychellois athletes when he met them at a special event held at State House before their departure.
