Allan Julie, laser sailor, and Alisen Camille, badminton player, are the Sportsman and Sportwoman, respectively, of 2011.

They were presented with the titles of the best on Friday 20th January by President James A Michel during the traditional sports awards ceremony the International Conference Centre, Victoria.   

Allan Julie is sportsman of the year for a record sixth time. He came out of retirement last year to win gold medals at the 8th Indian Ocean Islands Games and the 10th All Africa Games.

Alisen wins it for the first time.

Community Development, Youth and Sports said at the ceremony that the 2011 was a year of victory for Seychelles as local sportsmen and women overcame all the challenges and performed beyond expectations with the backing of the Seychellois people.

"President James Michel had a vision when he chose the theme Victory for Seychelles for the year 2011. He knew of the challenges that lay ahead and local athletes made us all proud through their results achieved at the 8th Indian Ocean Games, the 10th All Africa Games and other international competitions," added the Minister.
