The University of Seychelles officially launched its 2011-2012 academic year yesterday at the Anse Royale campus.
President James A Michel, who is the chancellor of the university, and Vice-President Danny Faure were among the guests at the event.
The vice-chancellor and president of the university, Dr Rolph Payet, announced at the ceremony that the institution would be introducing a compulsory course in civic education, training of teachers in English at degree level, and a diploma course in youth studies.
Dr Payet added that other courses, such as the development of the university's very own undergraduate programme in environmental science, would be introduced.
