My fellow Seychellois,
Yesterday, our nation was struck by torrential rains that caused flooding, landslides and fallen trees, leaving serious damage to homes, roads and property across several districts.
To every household affected, I extend my heartfelt sympathy. I give you my assurance that the Government, through all relevant agencies, is fully committed to ensuring that assistance reaches those affected as swiftly as possible.
I also pay tribute to the many men and women who answered the call when it mattered most: the Disaster Risk Management Division, under the leadership of the Vice-President; the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency; the Seychelles Police Force; the Seychelles Defence Forces; our health workers; utility and road crews; district administrators; and every neighbour, volunteer and citizen who cleared roads, opened their doors and came to the aid of others. Thank you. Your courage, selflessness and swift action helped protect lives and brought comfort in difficult hours.
Moments like these remind us of who we are. When the storm comes, Seychellois do not stand apart; we stand together. Our true strength lies in how we care for one another, and yesterday, that spirit of solidarity shone brightly across our islands.
To all those working tirelessly through this period of recovery, I wish you strength. I urge everyone to remain vigilant and follow the guidance of the authorities as weather conditions continue to be monitored, especially those living in high-risk areas.
May God bless Seychelles and keep our people safe.
