Excellency, my dear friend,
On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Seychelles, and in my own name, I extend to you my warmest congratulations as you complete twenty-five years of uninterrupted service as head of government of the Republic of India.
A quarter of a century of public office is a rare achievement in any democracy. It speaks of the enduring trust the people of India have placed in you, first in Gujarat and, since 2014, across the nation. It also speaks of a deep personal commitment to public service, sustained through times of hardship and times of great progress alike.
This milestone carries a special meaning for us in Seychelles, because it falls in the year our two nations celebrate fifty years of diplomatic relations. I recall with great warmth my State Visit to India in February, and the generous welcome extended to my delegation. I recall with equal fondness your presence among us in June as Guest of Honour at our Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations. The people of Seychelles were honoured to receive you, and they have not forgotten.
Throughout your tenure, India has stood by Seychelles as a steadfast friend and partner: in health, in capacity building, in maritime security, and in the many ties that bind our peoples across the Indian Ocean. Your vision for our shared ocean has given that partnership new purpose.
As you begin this next chapter, I wish you continued good health, wisdom and strength in the service of the people of India. I look forward to building, together with you, the next fifty years of partnership between our two nations.
