On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2026, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt appreciation to all teachers and educators across Seychelles. This year’s theme, “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, promoting teacher status and shaping our futures,” reminds us of the enduring importance of valuing, supporting and strengthening the teaching profession. From those beginning their journey in the classroom to those who have dedicated decades to educating generations of Seychellois, your contribution to our nation is immeasurable. Every day, you do more than impart knowledge. You inspire confidence, nurture talent, instill values, and encourage our young people to discover their potential and their place in society. Behind every successful learner, skilled professional and responsible citizen is an educational journey shaped, in part, by a teacher who believed in them.
As our government continues to build an education system that is inclusive, future-ready and focused on opportunity for every learner, we recognise that no reform can succeed without strong, valued and supported teachers. Our priorities include improving teaching and learning, strengthening professional development and leadership, embracing digital transformation, and equipping our young people with the knowledge, skills and values they need for the future. We remain committed to the professional dignity, development and wellbeing of our educators, ensuring that teachers have the support, resources and opportunities they need to carry out their responsibilities with confidence and pride. Supporting our teachers is an investment in our children, our communities and the future of Seychelles.
With the privilege of educating our children comes a profound responsibility. Every learner entrusted to our schools deserves to be treated with dignity, fairness, care and respect, and to learn in an environment that is safe, inclusive and supportive of their wellbeing. I therefore call on every educator to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability, while recognising and responding to the individual needs and potential of every learner. At the same time, as a nation, we must continue to stand firmly behind our teachers, value their contribution and support their wellbeing. To every teacher, I thank you for your patience, resilience, dedication and belief in our children. The Seychelles we build tomorrow begins with the children we educate today, and every teacher has a part in shaping that future.
To all our teachers: your work matters, your contribution is valued, and your service to Seychelles is deeply appreciated.
Happy Teachers’ Day 2026.
