A profound sense of sadness has settled across the musical community as we have learned of the passing of renowned Seychellois musician and traditional singer, Mr François Larue.
Mr Larue, who passed away this morning at the Seychelles Hospital, distinguished himself as both a singer and drummer, leaving behind a body of work that resonated deeply with audiences.
Like his moutya song Dife (Fire), for which he is widely known, his music carries a burning intensity, igniting emotion and cultural connection across generations.
Through his craft, he gave expression to the richness of our Creole identity and contributed meaningfully to the preservation of Seychellois musical traditions.
On behalf of the people of Seychelles, I extend my sincere condolences to his family, his loved ones, and to the artistic community during this time of loss.
