La Digue today mourns the passing of Mr Marston Saint Ange, a well-known and deeply respected figure whose life was closely woven into the social and economic fabric of the island. His loss is felt profoundly by those who knew him, and by the many whose lives were touched by his work and presence over the years.
On behalf of the Government and people of Seychelles, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Mr Saint Ange was more than a hotel owner, he was a proud ambassador of the Seychellois spirit. Through his dedication to tourism on La Digue, he made a meaningful contribution to the island’s economy, offering visitors an authentic experience rooted in our culture, hospitality, and way of life. His establishment reflected not only entrepreneurial resilience, but also a deep understanding that tourism in Seychelles is, above all, about people and human connection.
His warm personality, sharp wit, and easy-going nature made him a beloved figure among both locals and visitors alike. He embodied the values of hard work, humility, and community, and his passing is a significant loss to La Digue and to the country as a whole.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire.
