02 April 2026 | Social Affairs.
Seychelles stands united in affirming that every autistic person belongs, is valued, and has an essential place in our nation’s future. As we observe World Autism Awareness Day on 2nd April, we stand in solidarity with children, young people, and adults on the autism spectrum across Seychelles and around the world. We recognise both the challenges they face and the extraordinary gifts they bring to our society. In a world that is not always designed to understand different ways of thinking, communicating, and experiencing life, many continue to encounter barriers in education, employment, and social inclusion.
Yet these challenges are matched by remarkable strengths — creativity, honesty, innovation, deep focus, and unique perspectives that enrich our families, strengthen our communities, and inspire our nation. Today, we reaffirm with conviction that true national progress can only be achieved when inclusivity, dignity, and equal opportunity are guaranteed for all.
As a country, we must continue to build a society where difference is not merely accepted, but embraced as a source of strength. Inclusivity must remain at the heart of our national development, ensuring that every autistic person has equal opportunities to learn, grow, contribute, and thrive in supportive and empowering environments.
On this important day, I also wish to speak directly to parents, guardians, teachers, therapists, and all caregivers. Your love, patience, and unwavering dedication often go beyond what words can fully express. You are the foundation that enables children and adults on the spectrum to flourish. The Government recognises both your commitment and the challenges you face, and we remain steadfast in our support to you.
Let this day be a call to action for all of us government, institutions, communities, and citizens alike, to replace stigma with understanding, barriers with support, and exclusion with belonging.
Together, we can build a Seychelles where every person, regardless of neurodiversity, is empowered to live with dignity, purpose, and hope.
