As International Men's Day is observed today, allow me to extend my warmest greetings to all the men and boys of our nation. This day calls for celebration of you, our fathers and sons, brothers and friends, colleagues and mentors, who contribute greatly to the foundation of our society.
International Men's Day, observed annually on 19th November since the year 1999, reminds us of the need to recognize the positive contributions that men make toward their families, communities, and nations while also acknowledging the challenges they face. This year's theme, “Celebrating Men and Boys”, calls us to honor the successes and humanity of the men who shape our world.
To every man and boy in Seychelles, we see you and celebrate you.
We recognize the many ways you strengthen our families and communities. We see your dedication to your work, your care for those around you, and your leadership in homes, workplaces, and communities all across our islands. Your contributions, whether grand or humble, public or private, form a foundation upon which our nation stands.
Yet celebration must go hand in hand with acknowledgment. We know that men and boys face unique challenges that deserve our attention and support. Too often, societal expectations discourage men from seeking help, expressing vulnerability, or putting their mental and emotional wellbeing first. Too many young men struggle to find their way or feel they must face their challenges alone.
This must change. Real strength includes the wisdom to ask for help when needed. True leadership involves caring for one's own wellbeing as much as caring for others. We work in creating an environment where every man and boy in Seychelles feels guided, supported and valued to live with dignity and purpose.
We work towards setting a stronger foundation to ensure that our boys grow into confident, compassionate men with the tools they need to succeed. To the men of today: your wellbeing matters to us, and we are here to support you. To the boys who will become tomorrow's leaders: we are investing in your future, empowering you with education and opportunity, and the understanding that your worth extends far beyond traditional expectations.
We all have a role to play in this mission. Fathers and mentors, guide the next generation with honesty, hard work, and openness. Friends and colleagues, stand by one another in sincerity. Communities, make space for men to safely contribute. We can collectively build a Seychelles where every man and boy is thriving.
Let this International Men's Day be the moment when we, with renewed vigour and determination, celebrate the men and boys of our nation, not just today but day after day. To all the men and boys of Seychelles; you are valued, you are appreciated, your contributions enrich our society, and your wellbeing is the essential element in our collective future.
Happy International Men's Day.
