President Ramkalawan Celebrates Achievements of SIAH Graduates at ICCS Ceremony

President Wavel Ramkalawan attended the graduation ceremony of the Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH) as guest of honour on Thursday afternoon at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS). The event marked a significant milestone for 24 graduates who completed their studies across key agricultural disciplines, including Ornamental Horticulture and Landscaping (Apprenticeship), Advanced Certificate in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscaping, General Agriculture (Apprenticeship), and Advanced Certificate in General Agriculture.

The ceremony highlighted academic excellence and personal achievement through the presentation of distinguished awards. Mr. Fabio Morel, a graduate of the Advanced Certificate in General Agriculture programme, was named Outstanding Learner, receiving the coveted President’s Cup, a laptop, and other prizes in recognition of his exemplary academic record, active engagement in school life, and exemplary conduct.

Mr. Jacob Isnard received the SIAH Excellence Award for his sustained high performance, while Ms. Rebecca Benoit was presented with the Director’s Award in recognition of her achievements and contributions throughout her studies.

In her address, SIAH Director Ms. Maryanne Marie commended the graduates for their perseverance and dedication. She expressed gratitude to all partners and the government for their continuous support "in developing a skilled workforce" for the nation. Ms. Marie urged the graduates to "join the world of work and apply their knowledge to make a difference in their respective fields" despite unforeseen challenges, "as they continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in agriculture."

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Fabio Morel, who expressed gratitude to mentors, families, and peers who supported the graduates on their academic journeys. He called on his fellow graduates to remain guided by their shared values and determined in their pursuit of excellence.

The ceremony was attended by several high-level dignitaries, including the Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment, Mr. Flavien Joubert; Minister for Employment and Social Affairs, Mrs. Patricia Francourt; Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Roger Mancienne; Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Sebastien Pillay; Principal Secretary for Education, Ms. Merna Eulentin; members of the SIAH governing board; institute staff; and other invited guests.
