New Irish Ambassador accredited

The new Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Ms. Mary O’Neill presented her letters of accreditation to the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan at State House yesterday morning.

The President congratulated Ambassador O’Neill on her accreditation and expressed hope that the existing strong relations between Seychelles and Ireland is further consolidated for the shared benefits of its peoples.

“Seychelles and Ireland already enjoys excellent relations between our two nations. Your accreditation, today signifies a new step in our countries’ commitments to further our collaboration and unearth other areas of cooperation” said President Ramkalawan.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Ambassador O’Neill said the key areas of of focus during her tenure will include domains such as Climate Change, Climate Action and Climate adaptation, Tourism, Education and Capacity Building. She described discussions with the Head of State as warm and friendly and expressed her wish to further strengthen the relations between Ireland and Seychelles.

Also present for the meeting at State House was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde, the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Department, Amb. Vivianne Fock Tave and other Foreign Affairs Officials.

Ambassador O’Neill, is the second Ambassador of Ireland to Seychelles,

Diplomatic relations between Seychelles and Ireland were established on 9th October 1999.
