Cabinet Business Thursday 13th JUNE 2024

President Wavel Ramkalawan chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet yesterday, Wednesday 12th June 2024 in which a number of legal and policy memoranda were approved.

Cabinet reaffirmed Government’s decision to ratify the Montreal Protocol 2014 which empowers airlines and countries to deal with unruly and disruptive passengers on board aircraft.

Cabinet agreed to compensate visiting justices of appeal for the extra time they needed to scrutinise cases in the Court of Appeal prior to their arrival in Seychelles.

Cabinet was advised on the need to address in a comprehensive way the problem of accommodation of the increasing numbers of foreign workers in Seychelles.

Cabinet considered the need to extend the use of mandatory electronic registers to services other than shops where sale transactions occurred.

Cabinet endorsed proposals by the Trade Department to start developing a national intellectual property strategy in consultation with all stakeholders.

Cabinet approved the terms of reference for the proposed independent study on excessive alcohol consumption in Seychelles.

Cabinet discussed Seychelles’ proposed positions in the forthcoming EU_ESA negotiations on the liberalisation (to foreign competition) of the provision of certain services.
