President Wavel Ramkalawan, accompanied by First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, witnessed the handing over of 24 housing units to families at Vilaz Zanblon, Cascade, on Thursday afternoon.
The 24 units represent Phase 2 of the Village development, comprising 8 three-bedroom units and 16 two-bedroom units constructed by Reliance Engineering at a cost of SCR 24.6 million. The ceremony saw families receiving keys to their new homes as part of the government's commitment to providing affordable housing solutions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister for Land and Housing, Mr. Billy Rangasamy, expressed the Ministry’s continued dedication to meeting the housing needs of Seychellois families, while ensuring that developments are built to quality standards.

Many have longed to return to their district, while others have patiently waited for many years. We will continue working tirelessly to ensure that more of our citizens can experience the joy of owning a home, within a safe and conducive environment that fosters unity, belonging, and pride,” the President said.
Following the handover ceremony, attendees also observed the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for an additional 32 mid-range condominium units. This new development, to be undertaken by Onivo Construction Ltd at a contract value of SCR 39.9 million, will further boost the availability of quality housing in the district. Both projects are entirely funded by the Government of Seychelles.
