The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan, this afternoon led the official ceremony for laying of the foundation stone and unveiling of the plaque for the upcoming Grand Anse Praslin Micro Enterprise Centre. The ceremony, that took place at the site of the former STC warehouse, marks a major milestone in the Government’s continued commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and empowering small businesses across the islands.
Organised by the Ministry for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry in collaboration with the Industrial Estates Authority (IEA), the event brought together key stakeholders, including government ministers, members of the National Assembly and district authorities,
In his keynote address, President Ramkalawan underlined the Government’s vision of providing inclusive economic opportunities for all Seychellois, especially those living on the inner islands. He noted that the development of modern, accessible infrastructure such as the Micro Enterprise Centre is key to nurturing local talent, encouraging self-employment, and building sustainable livelihoods within communities.
“This project represents our unwavering belief in the potential of our people. It is an investment in innovation, creativity and community resilience. We want to ensure that Praslin has the tools and facilities to thrive,” said the President.
Also addressing the gathering was the Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry, Mrs Devika Vidot and the Member of the National Assembly for Grand Anse Praslin, Hon. Wavel Woodcock, who both echoed the significance of the centre as a catalyst for economic diversification and growth.
The ceremony featured the unveiling of the commemorative plaque by the President, Minister, and a vote of thanks acknowledging the contributions of all partners and stakeholders.
The Grand Anse Micro Enterprise Centre is expected to provide workspaces, support services, and opportunities tailored for emerging entrepreneurs in the district, reinforcing Seychelles’ strategic plan for micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) growth.
