His Excellency President Wavel Ramkalawan, Commander-in-Chief of the Seychelles Defence Forces, officiated a distinguished promotion ceremony at State House this morning, commissioning eight officers to the rank of Lieutenant.

President Ramkalawan, alongside Major General Micheal Rosette, promoted eight officers from Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant before assembled family members and distinguished guests. The newly commissioned officers are: Lt Ryan Mussard, Lt Jonathan Rose, Lt Dylan Renaud, Lt Jean Paul Suzette, Lt Jean Yves Rose, Lt Daniel Sanguignon, Lt Archille Marimba, and Lt Alexander Stravens.
Addressing the gathering, President Ramkalawan congratulated the officers on their advancement and emphasized their crucial role in the nation's security framework. "You are the ones who will take leadership of the Seychelles Defence Forces to assure the security of our territory," the President declared, highlighting the significant responsibility now entrusted to these emerging leaders.
The Commander-in-Chief challenged the newly commissioned lieutenants to serve as exemplars for Seychelles' youth, encouraging military service as a pathway to national contribution. "You have the responsibility to protect our country and ensure our flag flies higher," he stated, emphasizing their dual role as defenders and ambassadors of national pride while urging them to pursue every opportunity for professional advancement.
President Ramkalawan concluded with an inspiring charge: "Continue to serve with honor, courage, and commitment. Wear your new ranks with pride, determination, and loyalty."
The ceremony included a moment of silence honoring two fallen officers: retired Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Larue and Corporal Maurice Pool. President Ramkalawan extended heartfelt condolences to their families, acknowledging their dedicated service and ultimate sacrifice to the nation.
