This morning, H.E. Ambassador Nicola Brennan-Brugha presented her credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan during an accreditation ceremony at State House. Ambassador Brennan-Brugha succeeds H.E. Ms. Mary O'Neill, becoming the third Irish Ambassador accredited to Seychelles.
President Ramkalawan warmly welcomed Ambassador Brennan-Brugha and congratulated her on her new role. He emphasized the strong diplomatic ties between Seychelles and Ireland, expressing a desire to enhance existing cooperation.
During their discussions, both the President and the Ambassador expressed satisfaction with the robust bilateral relationship between their countries. They focused on key areas of cooperation, including education, business investment, health, and climate change.
In a statement to the media, Ambassador Brennan-Brugha commended President Ramkalawan for his leadership on issues affecting Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and his commitment to climate action. She noted that her priority will be to address the challenges faced by small island nations and to advance climate initiatives.
Ambassador Brennan-Brugha will be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Vivienne Fock-Tave, Director General of the Bilateral Affairs Division Ms. Lindy Ernesta, Director of Bilateral Affairs Ms. Wendy Isnard, and Third Secretary of the Bilateral Affairs Division Mr. James Carpin.
