President Ramkalawan bids farewell to the High Commissioner of Canada

The High Commissioner of Canada to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Kyle Nunas, paid a farewell call to the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan, in a meeting at State House this morning, marking the end of his two-year tenure.

President Ramkalawan expressed his gratitude to High Commissioner Nunas for his significant contributions, which have been instrumental in strengthening bilateral relations between Seychelles and Canada. During his tenure, the High Commissioner introduced notable diplomatic initiatives, including the visa waiver agreement and cooperation in areas such as the blue economy, climate change, and marine security.

“I am deeply grateful for the support and excellent collaboration between our two countries. Together, we have made remarkable strides forward, and I am confident that the strong bond between our countries will continue to flourish. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours,” said the Head of State.

In addressing the press, His Excellency Mr. Nunas highlighted the effective collaboration between Canada and Seychelles in various areas of mutual interest. He noted that during his term, Canada played a crucial role in enhancing Seychelles' maritime security, supporting the nation's territorial integrity, and contributing to the fight against human trafficking.

Also present at the meeting were the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylveste Radegonde, the Principal Counsellor for Bilateral Affairs, Mrs. Johnette Stephen , and Bilateral Affairs Desk Officer, Ms. Elsa Lepathy.
