United States, Washington DC, Tuesday 13th December 2022: President Wavel Ramkalawan arrived in Washington DC on Monday morning where he will be attending the US-Africa Leaders' Summit.
President Ramkalawan is currently in Washington DC at the invitation of United States President Joe Biden, where several African Heads of State and Government and senior dignitaries will engage in various high-level dialogues and discussions centred around the US-Africa agenda.
In the evening, the President accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde and the Ambassador of Seychelles to the United States of America, Abassador Ian Madeleine, attended the Welcome Dinner hosted by the Atlantic Council.
During the event guests heard opening statements by the Chairman of the Atlantic Council, Mr John Rogers and the President of the African Union and President of Senegal, Mr Macky Sall. The night was also graced by various other Keynote speakers as well as entertainment to welcome the guests to Washington DC.
The Welcome Dinner for the first U.S. Africa Leaders’ Summit since 2014 and in close partnership with the White House and the U.S. Department of State was a timely opportunity to bring together African and U.S. government officials, Congress members, top figures of the diaspora, and high-ranking private sector representatives to foster cooperation on a wide range of global challenges. Offered by John Rogers, Atlantic Council Chairman and as well as Goldman Sachs Executive Vice President, the Atlantic Council’s welcome dinner hosted a group of African heads of state, members of Congress and the Administration, business leaders, diplomatic corps, and high-profile civil society for important conversations on the business opportunities on the African continent.
