Establishment of the National Awards Committee

With the coming into force of the National Awards Act 2022, President Wavel Ramkalawan has appointed the Members of the National Awards Committee which will be responsible for receiving and assessing nominations from the members of the public for the Award of Honour and for the Award of Merit under the Act.

The National Awards Committee will be chaired by Mr Robert Grandcourt. The other five Members of the Committee are Mr Patrick Mathiot, Sister Nita Servina, Mr Herman Maria, Ms Gemma Jessy and Ms Lena Desaubin. The appointments are for a period of 3 years.

The Secretary of the Order will be the Secretary of the Cabinet, Mr Mohammed Afif.

The Chancellor of the Order will be the President of the Republic, who will confer medals of Honour on persons recommended by the National Awards Committee. The first National Awards will be presented on 29th June 2022.

A form for use by the public to make nominations for Awards will be made available on the statehouse website: www.statehouse.gov.sc and further details on making nominations will be announced by the Committee shortly.
