President Ramkalawan receives Rotary District Governor for the Indian Ocean Region

President Wavel Ramkalawan welcomed the Rotary District Governor for the Indian Ocean Region, Mr. Dinesh Gajeelee for a courtesy call at State House this morning.
Mr Gajeelee, from Mauritius is currently in Seychelles on a working visit, where he has been engaged in various discussions with the two Seychelles Rotary International Chapters; Rotary Club of Victoria and Rotary Club Victoria Coco de Mer.
The meeting with the Head of State was an opportunity to discuss potential avenues of cooperation by the Seychelles Rotary in partnership with other Rotary Clubs in the region for the benefit of the local community. Possible areas of cooperation primarily includes in the domain of health and education. Priority on the agenda will be possibility to launch various Health Camps for certain specialised treatments of high demand in Seychelles such as Cataracts Surgery, Heart Surgeries for children as well as Squint Surgeries for children.
“Seychelles recognizes the important role of Rotary in our communities. They are well respected and today I would like to express the country’s sincere gratitude for all the Rotarians for their continuous support and commitment to important causes. It is our hope that the same spirit of volunteerism permeates to the younger generation as we continue working to improve our society” said President Ramkalawan.
Possibility of exploring trade and investment opportunities between Seychelles and Mauritius were also discussed.
District Governor Gajeelee was accompanied on his visit at State House by his wife Mrs Radha Gajeelee, Assistant District Governor Narendra Raghvani, President Rotary Club of Victoria, Angele Low-Sauzier, President Elect Rotary Club of Victoria, Vijay Vairasamy, President, Rotary Club of Coco De Mer, Lucile De Commarmond, President Elect, Rotary club of coco de mer Michel Remacle and President Rotaracts Brigitte Gbilimou
