President Ramkalawan to participate in 8th edition of the ‘World Government Summit’ in Dubai

The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan will be participating in the upcoming World Government Summit being held in Dubai as of 28th March.

President Ramkalawan has been invited to be a panelist during the thematic session “Rising Blue Waters – Governments fighting climate change”. The President will be participating alongside two other Heads of Government, the Prime Minister of St Lucia, Hon. Philip J. Pierre and the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Hon. Gaston Browne.

The world Government Summit is instrumental in the dialogue and action that will shape the post-pandemic era, and the world beyond the fourth industrial revolution. Since its inception in 2013, the summit has championed the mission of shaping future governments and creating a better future for humanity.

The 8th edition of the World Government Summit will be held exceptionally in tandem with the closing of “Expo 2020 Dubai”, under the theme “Shaping Future Governments”. The summit will bring together thought leaders, global experts and decision makers to share and contribute to the development of tools, policies, and models that are essential in shaping future governments. It will convene over 4,000 participants, world leaders, policy makers, international organizations and the foremost thinkers from more than 190 countries.

The President will be accompanied on this mission by the First Lady, Mrs Linda Ramkalawan, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde as well as the five women members of the Cabinet; the Minister for Health, Mrs Peggy Vidot, the Minister for Youth, Sports and Family, Mrs Marie-Celine Zialor, the Minister for Investment, Entrepreneur and Industry, Mrs Devika Vidot, the Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs, Mrs Rose Marie Hoareau, and the Minister for Employment and Social Affairs, Mrs Patricia Francourt. On the sidelines of the ‘World Government Summit’ the female Ministers will also be participating in the “Women in Government Forum’.

The President will leave the country on Sunday 27th March and will resume office on 1 April. During President Ramkalawan’s absence from the country, his duties and responsibilities will be discharged by Vice-President Ahmed Afif.
