President Wavel Ramkalawan received a copy of the final report of the commission of inquiry into the tragedy of “MV Sea Horse” and crew members which occurred off coetivy island on 26th August 2018. The report was handed over by the Chairperson of the commission, Justice Bernadin Renaud at State House this morning.
Also present were the other members of the commission who during discussion had the opportunity to brief the Head of State on several pertinent current affairs matters as well as propose recommendations for the benefit of the community.
The President formally conveyed his appreciation to the members of the commission for their hard work and despite the enormity of the task they have delivered the report.
“On behalf of the state I would like to thank you all for the work you have accomplished as a commission and for the very frank discussion held today” said President Ramkalawan.
The meeting was also an opportunity for members the commission to share some of their insight based on their technical expertise and experience on various areas of concern in the country, predominantly in the domain of maritime safety, emergency response and preparedness.
Other members of the commission present at State House this morning included Mr Joseph Athanasius, Mr Idney Basset, Captain Robert Morgan, Mr Marc Brutus and Mrs Cecile Boniface.
