President Ramkalawan sends message of condolences following the passing away of pioneer and protector of the Seychelles' environment Mrs Katy Beaver

President Wavel Ramkalawan, on behalf of government and the people of Seychelles, has expressed his heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to Mr. Lindsay Chong Seng, his children and the family and friends of Mrs Katy Beave upon hearing of her sudden passing.

Mrs Beaver was a founder of the Plant Conservation Action Group and as a conservationist was involved in many types of research and studies. She was also a writer and illustrator. 

“Mrs Beaver will be remembered as a pioneer and protector of the Seychelles' green environment. She will be remembered for her 40 years of research and conservation work on our islands, and will remain a role model for every Seychellois for her passion as a conservationist. She was instrumental in bringing issues relating to the environment to national attention and creating awareness of the Seychelles biodiversity both nationally and internationally. We will all miss her,”said President Ramkalawan.
