President Wavel Ramkalawan welcomed President’s Cup winners from all the professional centres in Seychelles for a courtesy call at State House this morning. It is the first time that all the President’s Cup winners from all the nine professional centres across Mahé are received at State House for a one-on-one discussion with the President.
President Ramkalawan first and foremost personally congratulated them for their achievements and for being the best in their respective fields. As role models and an inspiration for Seychellois youths, the President also wished the awardees the very best for the future as they progress to the next phase to venture into further studies.
“It is a pleasure receiving you all here at State House today. I am encouraged by your determination and your aspirations for the future. On behalf of Government I wish to congratulate you all for your achievements. I urge you to pursue your further studies and return to serve our beloved country, Seychelles” said President Ramkalawan.
The President’s cup awardees present included from the Seychelles Business Studies Academy (SBSA), Kristy Naiken, from the Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH), Fredo Dubel, from Seychelles Institute of Art and Design (SIAD), Eric Albert, from the School of Advanced Level Studies (SALS), Philip Shamhong, from the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) Darryl Hibonne, from the Seychelles Maritime Academy, Elisia Burnett, from the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT), Louisa Lafortune, from the National Institute of Health and Social Studies (NIHSS), Priscille Vidot and from Seychelles Institute of Teacher Education (SITE), Francisca Souffe.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Miss Francisca Souffe a Teacher said they are honoured to have been received by the Head of State and provided with the opportunity to share their views on matters affecting them and the country in general.
Also present for the courtesy call at State House were Vice-President Ahmed Afif, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde, the Minister for Health, Mrs Peggy Vidot and the Director of Education for Resource Development in the Secretariat of the Minister, Dr Linda Barallon.
Professional Centres are public tertiary education institutions offering learning programmes in a variety of academic, vocational, technical, technological and applied scientific subjects leading to qualifications from level 3 to level 6 of the National Qualifications Framework, and awards qualifications.
