First Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain to Seychelles accredited

The first ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa presented his credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan during an accreditation ceremony held this morning at State House.  

On behalf of the government and the people of Seychelles, President Ramkalawan welcomed and congratulated H. E. Ambassador Al Khalifa on his accreditation as the new Ambassador. The President underlined how today’s accreditation marks a new step in the two country’s diplomatic engagements.  President Ramkalawan expressed the hope that Seychelles and Bahrain will reinforce the existing excellent relations between the two countries and enhance in new areas of cooperation.  

“Seychelles and Bahrain have enjoyed long-standing relations for over three decades. I look forward for our two countries reinforcing the relationship and it is my fervent hope that during your tenure we continue to strengthen our bilateral ties,” said President Ramkalawan.  

H. E. Ambassador Al Khalifa reciprocated his government's interest to further advance diplomatic ties between Bahrain and Seychelles to new heights for the benefit for both countries.  

During discussions, the Head of State and the newly accredited Ambassador touched upon the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Other avenues of cooperation such the private sector, finance, investment among others were also raised.  

Following his accreditation the Ambassador also paid a courtesy call to Vice-President Ahmed Afif.  

The Kingdom of Bahrain to Republic of Seychelles established diplomatic relations on 4th May 1983. 

H. E. Ambassador Al Khalifa is based in Abu Dhabi.  

Also present this morning was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde, Director General Bilateral Affairs Division, Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms Lindy Ernesta and First Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms Wendy Isnard.   -End-
